Personal layer
Beyond the communities you belong to, Townwell gives you a personal space that is entirely your own — visible only to you, not to any community or admin.
What lives in your personal layer
- Personal events on your own calendar.
- Personal notes / posts in your private feed.
- Personal documents. You can upload files just for yourself.
How it's merged with communities
Your home view (when no community is selected) brings together your personal items and read-only views of content from all your communities — for example, a weekly calendar showing both your private events and every community's events at a glance. Community content still lives in and links back to its own community.
Privacy
Your personal records are end-to-end encrypted with a key only you have, and are visible to no one else — including community admins and even Townwell itself. Personal content isn't shared with any community; it's your space.
What isn't in the personal layer
Shared resources need a community to make sense, so the personal area only shows the shared resources of the communities you belong to (they're managed in each community). See the Shared resources guide.
